The roller coaster of remodeling

Remodeling is light a roller coaster of emotions. Ask any one who has ever gone through it. A good contractor can help turn this roller coaster into a small fair ride, but no one will get through the process without some sort of emotional turmoil.

Take a Kitchen Remodel for example:

It starts with the excitement of signing a contract, knowing you are finally doing this!

And then the low of the writing of the deposit check ..........

Then there is the high of demolition... you see an amazing jump in progress that makes you think 5-6 weeks for my kitchen??? psh they are going so fast it's going to be like 3 weeks!

And then the low of rough-ins and waiting for inspectors. You think: Have they even done a single thing?? (Yes! Yes! we have! It's all just behind the walls and getting inspections from the county)

And then the high of cabinets being delivered and installed (or so it looks)

And then the low of cabinets STILL being installed (but what you don't notice is all the fillers being installed, trim pieces, and finishing touches that a carpenter does to make a well designed kitchen look GREAT!)

To the high of countertops being measured and installed!

To the low of - what else is there left to do? Why are you still in my house? ---- now this is about week 4-5 of a 5-6 week project.

There's still back splash tile, there's still some trim finishing touches, painting, cabinet hardware to be installed.... all the little touches that make a job finished.

To the high of MAID CLEAN UP!!!!!! AND WE ARE DONE!

This roller coaster is pretty universal - but who you work with can make those high's really high and the low's not so low!!!!

Here is a job of mine at that high of countertops being installed... I was out to help make paint selections for the space.

(Current production status: Addition, kitchen reno. Siding was installed the day after I went out, tile is going up this week)

These cabinets are Dura Supreme, Kendall Door, in Maple Butternut

(The addition starts where the roof changes from an angle to flat, just before the corner cabinet. The range is ALMOST in the same location as it was in the existing photo below)
