Designing with your clients not for them.

I had to share a quote from an email I got from a client who recently signed their construction contract with NVS to remodel their kitchen. We have finished the design, all selection made and are now in the ordering phase.

"we were commenting on the way home what a remarkable person you are...so knowledgeable and so patient. Thanks for being both on our behalf"

In the construction world, this project could be talked about as "oh it's just a kitchen" but we can not forget that "just a kitchen to us" is so much more to the client. They are investing their money in to this space - a space where they cook in daily, and entertain in, host holidays in, and will make memories in. It is my job to take each and every project and create my clients dreams. Where there a problems - I have to find solutions, where there are questions - I have to have or find answers, and when there is indecisiveness - I have to have patients and guidance.

Each project is unique, and I approach each one as such. You need to find a designer/company/team who will listen to what you want and show you the best way to get there, because if you you don't then you will get someone else's vision for the space and not your own. Now a designer may show you a vision you hadn't thought about. They may offer a solution you didn't know existed - that's their job. They may help you find your vision if you don't have a clear one. They may see your vision before you, based off inspiration pictures you show them.
