Almost project spotlight

I am calling this my almost project spot light post because this is not quite done..... but there are some hidden features that make me itch for it to be done so I can see it completed! ....

While this project at first glance from the before and (nearly) afters doesn't seem to have much change it really did!

The cabinets in the new kitchen are Dura Supreme, Chadwick Excel door, painted white finish, with a 2 piece crown molding and light rail to polish out the look.

Here are some of the changes:

1) We extended cabinetry on the wall the ovens and refrigerator are on the give more cabinet storage space.

2) We took the cabinets to the ceiling instead of leaving an open space above to collect dust

3) The microwave is built in to the island instead of sitting on the countertop in the corner.

4) The island shape is completely different, with toe kick details to create a more "furniture" feeling

5) The island top will be a SHOW PIECE instead of all the tops being the same

The surprises!

There is a custom designed cart (designed by your's truly) going into the island so that when it is pushed in under the overhang it will look like part of the island. The goal for this cart is for when the client is hosting parties it can be pulled out and serve as a buffet in the eat in area of the kitchen!!! I can not WAIT to see this in place.

Also in the island top will be popup outlets so the clients can plug crock pots in (or whatever needs to be plugged in) without it having to be right on the edge of the island and the cord stretching down to the plug! Another other cool electrical surprise we have in this project (not shown) is an LED strip on a light sensor that runs under the step down between the kitchen and eat in area.

The last cool surprise was an in field modification by our carpenter! When we extended the cabinetry along the oven wall, the client decided to move the phone hanging on the wall to a different place in order to make this happen. Turns out she didn't have to move it as far as she was thinking...... In fact they didn't move it at all - she simply put it in her broom closet. It's not a phone they frequently use so she figured why not hide it instead of having to see it out on a surface somewhere. I was also told that after this cabinet was set the wife hid in here in attempt to scare her husband! I certainly do have the best clients right now!!!!!!
