My Design Philosophy

As a designer, one sometimes wonders why you make what you make? When pondering this question I came to the conclusion that I create to inspire people. When a person walks into a space I have designed I want him or her to feel inspired to thrive and work hard. I feel that the spectator of my work should become inspired to succeed in what ever they have set out to do. Just like I want my work to inspire those who see it, I get inspired with my work as well. I am motivated by the desire to mold light and space and push design further with my ideas. I strive to expand the boundaries of the interior design world with my own creations. I want my designs to act as a means of bettering the surroundings it sits in. I want my work to speak to those who view it. I want my designs to communicate a sense of wonder and exploration for the viewer a they walk into the spaces of my design. I want them to also get a feeling of calm. I do not want someone to feel diminished or defeated.

The viewer also has to understand a few things about my designs besides the feeling they get when they walk through them. The viewer must understand that although the design is only the interior portion of a space is relates to many other components. The design relates to the outside architecture, the outside landscape and the environment.

All designers dream of their work being considered timeless; being remembered for generations to come. I am no exception. I want my work to be seen for years. I want it to become a model for designers who will eventually follow me. I want my designs to become historical; I want them to become landmarks for their surroundings. I need to figure out what will make my work become timeless. I would like to think my designs are modern in style and modern in thinking. I want them to engage the viewer, even if for a second. As a new designer, I still need to figure out what makes my work unique, but I hope those qualities will make my designs become timeless. I hope for my designs to express the love I posses for design.
